RCNA congratulates new national regulation board

01-Sep-2009

Today marks the beginning of an important new era for nurses and midwives with the announcement of the new Nursing and Midwifery Board to oversee a national scheme for registration and accreditation.

RCNA welcomes and congratulates all the members of the Board, who together represent a great breadth of professional and clinical knowledge and expertise, and have been entrusted with the task of leading the national regulation of nursing and midwifery practice into the 21st century.

We are particularly delighted that RCNA Fellow, Anne Copeland has been appointed the inaugural Chair of this Board. We also acknowledge RCNA Fellow, Lynne Geri, who currently serves as Enrolled Nurse Board Member for RCNA. Her appointment as the inaugural enrolled nurse representative is a significant achievement.

Also appointed from RCNA Membership are Mary Chiarella FRCNA, Angela Brannelly MRCNA, Lynette Cusack MRCNA, Louise Horgan MRCNA and Mary Kirk MRCNA.

On behalf of RCNA members, we take this opportunity to wish the new Board well as they pursue their mandate.
