Nursing and Allied Health Scholarship and Support Scheme: Continuing Professional Development: Emergency Department
Overview
The scheme is an Australian Government initiative supporting nurses and midwives working within a hospital emergency department to undertake continuing professional development (CPD) activities, short courses and conferences.
Application dates
Applications for this scheme are now closed. The next round of scholarships will open 23 July 2012.
Eligibility criteria
To be eligible to apply applicants must be
- An Australian citizen or permanent resident
- An enrolled nurse, registered nurse or midwife with current registration
- Participating in an activity that is eligible to accrue CPD points as prescribed by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
- Delivering clinical services in Australia
- Currently working in a hospital emergency department
- Undertaking CPD in 2012
Eligible activities are:
- Short course
- Workshop
- Conference or seminar
The activity undertaken must be eligible to accrue Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia CPD points. .
Courses must be provided by an Australian university, TAFE or registered training organisation.

Selection criteria for Continuing Professional Development Scholarships
Scholarships will be awarded on the recommendation of a selection committee and will be based on how you address the following criteria
- How the scholarship will benefit you in your career
- Your commitment to clinical practice in your chosen area of practice.
Value of scholarship
The scheme provides a scholarship worth up to a total of $1,500 per applicant. These funds are intended to assist scholars in meeting the cost of their chosen CPD activity.
Funding is available for activities commencing in 2012 and conducted in Australia.
