Overview

The Nursing and Allied Health Scholarship and Support Scheme: Nurse Re-entry (NAHSSS NR) is funded by Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.

The scheme is an Australian Government initiative supporting nurses and midwives to re-enter the workforce.

Application dates

Applications for this scheme are now closed. The next round of scholarships will open 23 July 2012.

Eligibility criteria for Nurse Re-entry

Applications will be considered from applicants who are
  • Australian citizens or permanent residents
  • An enrolled nurse, registered nurse or midwife who has not worked in three (3) years or more and/or their registration has lapsed
  • An enrolled nurse, registered nurse or midwife participating in an accredited refresher/re-entry course

Selection criteria for Nurse Re-entry Scholarships

Scholarships will be awarded on the recommendation of a selection committee and will be based on how you address the following criteria
  • How scholarship will benefit you in returning to nursing
  • Demonstrate your future intentions for your nursing career

Value of scholarship

Nurses undertaking re-entry courses will receive up to $6000 covering a two year study period. Funding will not be available for activities outside Australia.

This application form is only to apply for the Scholarship Scheme and is not an application to an educational or training institution. You must contact an education or training institution for details on how to organise your enrolment in a continuing professional development program or re-entry program.

General information about scholarship scheme

Recently re-entered or newly graduated nurses are encouraged to apply under this scheme to further skill themselves for their specific workplace.

Courses must be provided by Australian universities, TAFEs or registered training organisations.
