Rural Nursing and Midwifery Faculty


Welcome to the Rural Nursing and Midwifery Faculty, RCNA. This faculty was created as a result of a merger between Australian Rural Nurses and Midwives (ARNM) and Royal College of Nursing, Australia (RCNA).

The merger took place on 2 February 2009. RCNA would like to welcome former ARNM members to the College and to this new faculty that has been set up to represent their expertise in this particular nursing specialty.

Rural Nursing and Midwifery Faculty Advisory Committee (FAC)
The faculty was established to facilitate the exchange of information and advice on rural nursing and midwifery issues as required between Royal College of Nursing, Australia and key nursing experts.

FAC Members
Key nursing experts from the Rural Nursing and Midwifery Faculty will be invited to join the FAC, and other internal and external stakeholders may also be invited to join the committee as equal partners. The Rural Nursing and Midwifery FAC will be chaired by a member of the group. The FAC will be limited to 8 – 10 RCNA Fellows or Members and 4 RCNA employees.

Online Training Program
The online training program aims to assist nurses and midwives to increase their IT practice skills, by offering a nominal fee-for-service training program. The program is an online training program which participants will be able to complete at work and/or home. The online training program will benefit individuals and organisations by helping to ensure consistent and desired levels of IT knowledge.
