Primary Health Care Conference
8-10 November 2009

Welcome from Debra Cerasa FRCNA, Chief Executive Officer RCNA.
Dear colleagues

Welcome to the official website for the inaugural RCNA Primary Health Care Conference. As the CEO of RCNA, I am very excited that RCNA is leading this ground-breaking event. Themed Collaboration, integration, reform: a nursing response, the conference will create an opportunity for nurses to come together from around the country and workshop the major changes that are approaching our profession.

This is a fascinating time to be a nurse in Australia. The Federal Government is pushing for serious reform of the primary health care system, and the broad reform objectives have created a very real opportunity for nurses to challenge the boundaries that have previously limited their role and the ability to fully work in the scope of their practice.

So how do we do this? How do we ensure the best possible outcomes for nurses in a time where every profession out there will be fighting to hold their ground? How do we create real awareness of the need for nurses to work to the extent of their scope of practice? How do we lead the approach towards collaborative health care service delivery?

The RCNA Primary Health Care Conference is the first of its kind in focusing directly on the very current, very political issues surrounding the nursing role in primary health care. Join us in Adelaide this November and become part of the debate that will shape your profession.

I look forward to seeing you there.
