Community package aged care services

An Australian Government initiative, the Bringing Nurses Back into the Workforce (BNBW) program provides funding for eligible community package aged care services to support registered and enrolled nurses to return to employment in community package aged care services . The funding available will assist community package aged care services with the re-training and re-skilling of nurses who return to work.

The program will provide:

  • cash bonuses of up to $6000 for eligible nurses who return to work in community package aged care service that is participating in the BNBW program
  • cash bonuses of $1000 for participating community package aged care services that employ an eligible nurse.
The aims of the BNBW program include:
  • reducing the nursing shortages in community package aged care services
  • attracting 1,000 of the estimated 30,000 qualified nurses who are outside the Australian nursing workforce back into aged care homes and community package aged care services
  • providing support for enrolled nurses returning under the program to up-skill to the Diploma of Nursing.
There are 1,000 places available in residential aged care homes and community package aged care services under the BNBW program.
