Nurse Scholarship Program Nurse Practitioner 
(During 2009-10, the Nurse Practitioner Scheme will be consolidated into the Nursing and Allied Health Scholarship and Support Scheme)
Overview
The Scheme is an Australian Government initiative seeking to support registered nurses who are studying to become endorsed nurse practitioners.
Application dates
The scheme is now closed. Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by November/December 2009.
How to apply
This scheme is now closed. Information regarding applications for 2011 will be available closer to the opening of the application round in 2010.
Value of scholarship
Successful applicants will receive funding to assist with the costs associated with their studies. Scholarships are worth up to $7500 per semester for full-time study and $3,750 per semester for part-time study. Funding will be provided to a maximum of $30 000 for two years full-time or four years part-time study.
Criteria
Successful applicants will be:
- Australian citizens or permanent residents
- registered (division 1 or division 3) nurses with a current practising certificate
- enrolled in or intending to enrol in a course of study in 2010 which will lead to endorsement as a nurse practitioner by a nurse registration body in an Australian state or territory
- able to demonstrate their commitment to becoming a nurse practitioner.
While preference will be given to nurses with rural or remote residence, nurses in metropolitan and regional areas are encouraged to apply.
Applicants who have commenced study prior to the opening of the current round will be considered; however, successful applicants will only receive funding for study undertaken from 2009 onwards.
