The National Preventative Health Taskforce has released a discussion paper titled Australia: the healthiest country by 2020. The paper aims to kickstart a discussion regarding the development of a National Preventative Health Strategy.
The Taskforce is now accepting public submissions before delivering its National Preventative Health Strategy to Government in mid-2009. RCNA is considering making a submission and invites members to contribute to a collective response put together by the policy team.
Members wishing to contribute should send their comments to policy@rcna.org.au by 1 December 2008.

In June 2008 the Minister for Health, the Hon. Nicola Roxon MP, announced that the Rudd Government would develop a National Primary Health Care Strategy. The Strategy will form a roadmap for the future direction of primary health care in Australia.
As a first step in developing the Strategy, the Minister recently launched a discussion paper titled Towards a National Primary Health Care Strategy: A Discussion Paper from the Australian Government.
RCNA is calling for submissions and comments from interested members with the view of putting together a collaborative submission. Members wishing to contribute should send their comments to policy@rcna.org.au by 30 January 2009.
The discussion paper can be found here.
