National Networks

WHAT ARE NATIONAL NETWORKS (NNs)?
NNs are national groups of nurses with similar interests that provide networking opportunities for members to contribute to RCNA policy development and the opportunity to participate in activities with colleagues who share common interests.

Currently there are fifteen NNs comprising of:

- Adolescent and Young People's Health
- Breast Care
- Clinical Information
- Community & Primary Health Care
- Ethics
- Gerontic
- History
- Leadership
- Legal Issues
- Nurses in Business
- Nurse Practitioner
- Palliative Care
- Research
- Student
- Transcultural

HOW CAN I BE A MEMBER OF A NATIONAL NURSING NETWORK?
Membership of a National Network is open to any nurse who is or becomes a member of RCNA.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF BEING A MEMBER OF A NATIONAL NETWORK?
Advantages to being a member of an NN include:

  • receiving the popular NN newsletter Connections (published 3 times a year, it contains information from all 14 NNs and the 9 Chapters of the College);
  • access to other nurses committed to professional development in a specialist area;
  • the provision of networking opportunities for members with like-minded colleagues;
  • access to NN web pages;
  • the potential to identify and drive issues of concern that are specific to the NNs; and
  • the opportunity to assist with policy analysis and development.
